Red Fort Blast Probe: NIA Gets 10-Day Custody of Car Owner Linked to High-Grade Explosives

Delhi court remands prime accused in deadly blast to custody.

A special Delhi court on Monday granted the National Investigation Agency 10 days of police custody for Amir Rashid Ali, the registered owner of the ill-fated Hyundai i20 that was packed with high-grade explosives and detonated near the iconic Red Fort on November 10, instantly killing 13 people and injuring dozens more in one of the deadliest terror attacks on the national capital in recent memory.

Amid unprecedented security arrangements, Ali was produced before the Principal District & Sessions Judge at Patiala House Courts complex under a thick cordon of Delhi Police commandos and Rapid Action Force personnel equipped with anti-riot gear, while journalists and photographers were completely barred from entering the courtroom to prevent any leak of sensitive details emerging from the ongoing investigation.

Investigators told the court that the white Hyundai i20 used in the suicide-style bombing was registered in Amir Rashid Ali’s name in Jammu & Kashmir, establishing an irrefutable direct link between him and the “white-collar” terror module led by Pulwama-based doctor Umar Nabi, who was driving the vehicle when the bomb went off prematurely, killing him on the spot.

The NIA, which arrested Ali from a location in Jammu on Sunday night, sought the extended 10-day remand to confront him with seized digital evidence, financial trails, call records and statements of the six other accused already in custody, including three doctors from Faridabad who allegedly assembled the deadly device in a rented clinic.

As the probe rapidly closes in on the entire support ecosystem that enabled highly educated professionals to plan and execute the strike at India’s most symbolic landmark, security agencies have warned that more arrests are imminent, with the 10-day grilling expected to blow open the full conspiracy behind the November 10 carnage.
