Rajnath Singh praises armed forces on Operation Sindoor anniversary today.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday paid tribute to the Indian armed forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, praising their courage, precision, and sacrifices in carrying out the military action against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In a post on social media platform X, he said the operation reflected the armed forces’ “unmatched precision, seamless jointness and deep synergy” across services.
Singh described Operation Sindoor as a powerful symbol of India’s national resolve and preparedness, stating that it demonstrated the country’s ability to respond decisively when required. He also highlighted that the operation underlined India’s steady progress towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, strengthening both military capability and national resilience under the broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
India is observing the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, which was conducted on May 6–7 last year as a retaliatory military strike following the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam. The attack, attributed to Pakistan-backed terrorists linked to The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, resulted in the killing of 26 civilians, including 25 tourists and a local pony operator.

The Indian Army also marked the occasion, calling its response “calibrated and precise” and reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and citizens. In a statement shared on social media, the Army said “Justice served. Jai Hind,” highlighting the operation’s role in delivering a firm counterterrorism response.
The Headquarters of the Integrated Defence Staff also described Operation Sindoor as a “symbol of national resolve” and released a video documenting the planning and execution of the strikes on terror infrastructure. The footage also featured remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had vowed after the Pahalgam attack that India would identify, track, and punish those responsible and their supporters.
The operation involved coordinated military action across the three armed services and was described by officials as focused, measured, and non-escalatory. Authorities said it targeted high-value terror bases while maintaining strategic restraint, reinforcing India’s declared policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and signalling a strong deterrent message to cross-border militant networks.
