PM Modi Hails Operation Sindoor As India’s Strong Message Against Terrorism

PM Modi praised Operation Sindoor for showcasing India’s military strength and firm stand against terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and underscored the country’s unwavering commitment to national security. Marking the first anniversary of the military operation, the prime minister praised the armed forces for their courage and professionalism during the offensive carried out against terror and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May 2025.

In a post on X, Modi said the Indian armed forces had displayed “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve” during Operation Sindoor. He stated that the operation delivered a “fitting response” to those responsible for attacks on innocent civilians in Pahalgam and said the nation salutes the armed forces for their valour and dedication in protecting the country.

The prime minister noted that India remains resolute in its fight against terrorism and committed to dismantling the networks that support extremist activities. He said the operation demonstrated not only India’s military preparedness but also the increasing coordination among various branches of the country’s security forces. According to Modi, the mission highlighted the effectiveness of joint operations involving the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Border Security Force.

Modi also linked the success of the operation to India’s growing emphasis on self-reliance in the defence sector. He said the strengthening of indigenous defence capabilities has significantly enhanced the country’s national security framework and operational readiness. The remarks align with the government’s broader push for domestic manufacturing and modernization of military infrastructure under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.

Operation Sindoor was conducted from May 7 to May 10, 2025, along the western border. The coordinated military action targeted terrorist camps and military facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Officials had described the operation as a calibrated response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and deterring future cross-border attacks.

The operation was launched in retaliation for the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people, most of them tourists, were killed. The attack had triggered widespread condemnation across the country and renewed calls for stronger action against cross-border terrorism. The anniversary of Operation Sindoor has once again brought attention to India’s security strategy and its continued focus on counterterrorism operations.
