India and Australia to discuss defence cooperation and Indo-Pacific security in New Delhi.
India and Australia are set to deepen their strategic defence partnership as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles prepare to co-chair the second India-Australia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in New Delhi on Monday. The high-level meeting is expected to further strengthen bilateral military cooperation and advance shared regional security priorities.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the talks will focus on reviewing the progress made in defence collaboration since the inaugural dialogue held in Australia in October 2025. Both sides are expected to assess ongoing initiatives and identify new areas for cooperation, particularly in defence technology, strategic engagement, and operational coordination between their armed forces.
A key focus of the discussions will be enhancing military interoperability, which includes improving the ability of the two armed forces to operate jointly during exercises, humanitarian missions, and potential security operations. The dialogue will also explore opportunities for defence industry collaboration, including co-development and co-production of advanced military systems, reflecting a growing emphasis on self-reliance and shared technological advancement.
