Railways Suspends RPF Staff Over Clash With Station Officer

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has suspended personnel allegedly involved in a clash with a Deputy Station Superintendent (Dy SS) at Agra Cantt railway station after videos of the incident went viral on social media. The action was taken by Indian Railways following allegations of misconduct by RPF personnel during an altercation with officials from the Operations Department. The incident has prompted an internal inquiry into the circumstances leading to the confrontation.

According to railway officials, the incident occurred after Train No. 20808 Amritsar–Visakhapatnam Hirakund Express arrived at Agra Cantt station at its scheduled time and began departing before coming to a halt again shortly thereafter. Following the unexpected stoppage, a dispute reportedly broke out between RPF personnel and members of the Operations Department, escalating into a physical confrontation.

Videos circulating on social media allegedly show RPF personnel engaging in unruly behaviour with the Deputy Station Superintendent. The footage quickly attracted widespread attention, prompting railway authorities to initiate disciplinary action. While the authenticity of the videos is being examined as part of the inquiry, officials have acted by suspending the personnel concerned pending further investigation.

Chief Public Relations Officer Dr Shivam Sharma confirmed that the RPF personnel seen in the viral videos had been placed under suspension. He said the Railways had taken the matter seriously and initiated an investigation to establish the sequence of events and determine responsibility for the incident.

Indian Railways maintains strict standards of discipline and conduct for its personnel, particularly in interactions between different departments responsible for train operations and passenger safety. Incidents involving alleged misconduct are typically investigated through departmental proceedings, with appropriate action taken based on the findings of the inquiry.

The investigation into the Agra Cantt incident is ongoing, and officials have stated that further action will depend on the outcome of the inquiry. Authorities have urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions solely from videos circulating online until the investigation is completed and all facts surrounding the incident have been established.
