Railways Rolls Out Patna-Puri Special Train to Ease Durga Puja Travel Rush

In anticipation of the heavy passenger influx during the upcoming Durga Puja festival, the Indian Railways has announced a weekly special train service connecting Patna, Bihar, with Puri, Odisha, to ensure seamless travel for devotees and holidaymakers. The initiative, aimed at easing the festive rush, underscores the Railways’ commitment to accommodating seasonal travel demands.
The Patna-Puri-Patna Weekly Puja Special will commence operations on August 28, running every Thursday from Patna until December 25, and every Friday from Puri until December 26. The train is equipped with one second AC coach, two third AC coaches, nine sleeper-class coaches, and six second-class seating coaches, offering ample capacity for passengers traveling during the festive season.
The service will make stops at key stations, including Bakhtiyarpur, Barh, Mokameh, Kiul, Jhajha, Jasidih, Madhupur, Asansol, Durgapur, Barddhaman, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur Road, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar in both directions, ensuring connectivity across major towns and cities. This strategic route is designed to facilitate travel for those visiting Puri, a significant pilgrimage destination, during the Durga Puja celebrations.
