Rahul Gandhi Holds Chhatron Ki Goonj Youth Programme in Dehradun

Rahul Gandhi hears youth job struggles at Dehradun event.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched his 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' (Voice of Students) outreach programme in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where he interacted with students, competitive examination aspirants and unemployed youth. During the event, participants shared their experiences of cancelled recruitment examinations, alleged paper leaks and prolonged delays in government hiring, describing how years of preparation and financial investment had left many uncertain about their future. Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi said that for millions of young Indians, opportunities were becoming increasingly limited despite years of hard work.

Speaking to students, Gandhi highlighted the financial burden borne by families supporting children preparing for competitive examinations. He said many households could afford to support only one child for years of coaching because the costs involved were substantial. According to him, parents from salaried and middle-class families often make significant sacrifices in the hope that government employment will provide long-term stability. He argued that repeated examination cancellations and recruitment delays have created frustration among aspirants who dedicate several years to preparing for these opportunities.

Several participants at the programme recounted personal stories of disappointment after recruitment examinations were cancelled or delayed due to alleged irregularities. Some candidates said their aspirations of securing government jobs had been severely affected by examination paper leaks and administrative setbacks. Others described spending years preparing for competitive examinations only to face uncertainty after recruitment processes were halted. Their accounts reflected wider concerns over employment opportunities and transparency in public recruitment.

The outreach programme also touched upon issues such as the alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Uttarakhand, concerns surrounding paper leak cases, and the impact of recruitment reforms on job seekers. Students and young job aspirants urged authorities to strengthen examination systems, ensure timely recruitment and maintain fairness in the selection process. The event provided a platform for participants to directly communicate their concerns and expectations to the Leader of Opposition.

Rahul Gandhi said the experiences shared during the interaction demonstrated the challenges confronting many young people seeking employment across the country. He stressed the need for transparent recruitment systems, accountability in competitive examinations and policies aimed at expanding employment opportunities. According to him, restoring confidence among students requires ensuring that recruitment processes remain fair, timely and free from irregularities.

The 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' initiative forms part of the Congress leader's broader engagement with students and youth across different states. By interacting directly with examination aspirants and unemployed graduates, the programme seeks to highlight concerns related to education, recruitment and employment. The discussions in Dehradun underscored the growing demand among young people for reliable examination systems and greater certainty in government recruitment processes as they continue to pursue career opportunities.
