‘Purple Fest’ At Rashtrapati Bhavan Showcases Achievements And Inclusion Of Divyangjan

‘Purple Fest’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan celebrates Divyangjan talent and inclusion.

Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday hosted the ‘Purple Fest’, a day-long event celebrating the talent, achievements, and aspirations of "Divyangjan disabilities". President Droupadi Murmu highlighted their equal role in India’s journey toward a developed nation by 2047, calling them “equal partners” in building a Viksit Bharat.

Over 8,000 Divyangjan visited the Amrit Udyan, opened exclusively for the occasion. Attendees engaged in games, learning activities, and interactive stalls organised by organisations working for the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities. The day also featured cultural performances by Divyangjan artists at the Open Air Theatre within the presidential estate.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu emphasised that the true character of a society is reflected in how it treats its marginalised sections. She highlighted that Indian civilisation is rooted in inclusivity, sensitivity, and harmony, and noted that the Constitution guarantees social justice, equality, and dignity for all citizens, including persons with disabilities.

The President stressed the need for collective efforts in building an inclusive society, calling upon not just government bodies but also individuals and institutions to contribute. She referenced the Directive Principles of State Policy, which recognise the rights of persons with disabilities to education, employment, and public assistance, underscoring the constitutional commitment to their empowerment.

Purple Fest, organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aimed to raise awareness about disabilities, promote acceptance, and encourage inclusion in society. The event also provided a platform to recognise the achievements of Divyangjan while motivating greater participation and accessibility in public life.

President Murmu encouraged attendees to move forward with confidence, assuring them of continued support from both the government and society. The event reflected India’s ongoing focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment for all citizens as part of its broader vision for 2047.
