President's ADC: Eligibility, Selection Process And Career Path Explained

Becoming an Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the President of India is regarded as one of the most prestigious assignments available to a serving officer of the armed forces. The President, as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, is supported by ADCs during official engagements, military ceremonies and important national events. The position is not open through direct recruitment and is instead assigned to selected serving officers with strong professional records.
The first step is to become a commissioned officer in the Indian Army, Indian Navy or Indian Air Force. Students can pursue officer-entry routes such as the National Defence Academy (NDA) and other authorised defence selection processes. After completing the required selection and military training, successful candidates are commissioned and begin their careers as officers in the armed forces.
