President Murmu to Lead ‘Bharati-Nari to Narayani’ Convention, Empowering Women Nationwide
President Murmu chairs women leaders’ convention on empowerment, self-reliance.
President Droupadi Murmu will preside over a two-day national convention of women thought leaders, titled “Bharati-Nari to Narayani”, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on March 7 and 8, organisers announced on Saturday. The convention aims to promote national self-reliance and women-led development through dialogue among scholars, professionals, and leaders from across the country.
The event is being organised jointly by Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Bharatiya Vidvat Parishad, and Sharanya. Speaking at a press conference, Rachana Bajpai, head of media and publicity for Rashtra Sevika Samiti, described the convention as a crucial step toward shaping the nation’s future by empowering women and fostering collective growth.
The theme of the convention, explained by Shivani V, secretary of Bharatiya Vidvat Parishad, is the transformation of “Nari” — a symbol of silent strength — into “Narayani”, representing a strategic force. The organisers emphasized that the initiative goes beyond International Women’s Day celebrations, aiming instead to develop actionable strategies for skill enhancement, policy reform, and women-led economic and social growth.

Several prominent leaders are expected to attend, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar. The press conference was jointly addressed by Seetha Gayatri Annadanam of Rashtra Sevika Samiti and Anju Ahuja, president of Sharanya.
The convention will explore eight key themes: Vidya on education and syllabus reforms; Shakti on skill-based training and self-reliance; Mukti on self-awareness and financial independence; Chetana on workplace challenges and “she energy”; Prakriti on women’s health; Samskriti on cultural roots; Siddhi on inspiring stories of lesser-known achievers; and Kriti, which will present actionable recommendations to policymakers.
Shivani V highlighted the broader vision behind the event, stating, “When women are educated and empowered, the nation is empowered. This is a collective effort to connect, support, and stand by one another. Empowerment becomes meaningful only when it is shared, and this convention provides a platform to transform that vision into action.”
