President Murmu Makes Pilgrimage to Mathura and Vrindavan

President's divine day in holy city sparks massive buzz.

Mathura, the sacred cradle of Lord Krishna's legends, witnessed a momentous occasion on September 25, 2025, as President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a spiritually enriching day-long visit. The air was filled with reverence and excitement as she was warmly greeted by Uttar Pradesh's Minister for Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry, Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, alongside Mathura's Mayor Vinod Kumar Agarwal, and a host of senior administrative and police officials.

The President's itinerary was a heartfelt homage to the region's deep-rooted spiritual heritage. She began her pilgrimage at the iconic Banke Bihari temple, where she offered fervent prayers amid the chanting of devotees and the aroma of incense. From there, her journey led to the mystical Nidhivan, a site steeped in folklore where Lord Krishna is believed to perform his eternal Raas Leela. Continuing her devotion, President Murmu visited the serene Sudama Kuti ashram in Vrindavan, not only performing pooja but also planting a symbolic Parijaat sapling on the premises – a gesture symbolizing growth, peace, and environmental harmony that resonated deeply with onlookers.

As per an official statement from the President's Office, the day's schedule was meticulously planned to cover several prominent holy sites, blending tradition with national significance. Following her morning visits, she proceeded to the historic Kubja Krishan Mandir for darshan and pooja, where a special 'Maha Aarti' was organized at the 500-year-old temple. Priests there revealed that the rituals included prayers for global peace and the well-being of those battling severe illnesses, adding a layer of universal compassion to the event. The President's tour culminated with a visit to the revered Shri Krishna Janmsthan in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, where she immersed herself in the site's profound spiritual energy.

Security arrangements transformed Mathura into a fortress of safety, underscoring the high-profile nature of the visit. Over 4,000 police personnel, including eight companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary and elite Anti-Terrorism Squad commandos, were deployed across key areas. Central security agencies collaborated closely, enforcing a strict no-fly zone over the city to prevent any aerial disruptions. Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar emphasized vigilant monitoring of social media for any suspicious activities, ensuring swift responses to maintain order. Traffic diversions were implemented along the presidential convoy's routes, and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita – prohibiting gatherings of five or more people – was strictly enforced to avoid any crowds.

As the sun begins to set on this divine day, President Murmu prepared for her return to Delhi. The special Maharaja Express train, which had brought her to this holy land, was set to depart from Mathura Junction in the evening, carrying with it memories of a visit that not only honored India's cultural tapestry but also inspired countless devotees. This rare presidential pilgrimage highlights the enduring bond between leadership and spirituality in the heart of Uttar Pradesh.
