President Murmu begins 3-day Ayodhya visit, performs rituals at Ram Temple with devotees and dignitaries in attendance.
President Droupadi Murmu is set to begin a three-day visit to Ayodhya on Thursday, participating in a series of religious ceremonies at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, officials said. The visit includes the installation of the Shri Ram Yantra and Shri Ram Naam Temple on the second floor of the temple complex, alongside a series of Vedic rituals scheduled to start around 9 a.m.
The ceremonies will be conducted by 51 Vedic scholars from southern India, Kashi, and Ayodhya, under the guidance of priest Ganeshwar Shastri. In addition to the rituals, the President will felicitate nearly 400 workers who contributed to the construction of the temple and is expected to hoist a flag at one of the shrines in the outer precinct, known as the parkota.
President Murmu’s convoy is anticipated to arrive at the temple complex at around 11 a.m., with the programme lasting approximately four hours. Authorities have invited around 5,000 special guests, including prominent religious and social leaders, and have made elaborate arrangements for seating, transportation, and accommodation.

Ahead of the visit, Ayodhya has been decorated with saffron flags and banners lining the roads leading to the temple. Banners featuring images of President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were installed across the city. Ayodhya District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde said the administration is working to ensure a smooth and hassle-free event, noting that VIP darshan will be suspended during the President’s presence, while general devotees will be allowed entry at other times.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover confirmed that detailed security arrangements have been planned, covering the President’s arrival, her route to the temple, and all related proceedings. He emphasized that measures will also be taken to ensure that devotees attending for darshan do not face difficulties.
Officials indicated that the temple trust is considering opening access to additional shrines within the parkota area for devotees after the President’s programme. Under the proposed arrangement, around 5,000 devotees per day may visit these shrines through a pass-based system, allowing the public to participate in the spiritual experience while maintaining orderly management of the temple complex.
