Prajaseva Department Exists to Redress Every Citizen's Grievance, Says Khader
U.T. Khader explains Prajaseva Department's role in redressing citizen grievances.
Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister U.T. Khader said the government has established the Prajaseva Department to listen to citizens’ grievances and facilitate their resolution. He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level Praja Seva Andolana in Puttur. The initiative is intended to provide a platform where residents can bring issues related to government services and seek appropriate solutions.
Khader said the government’s objective was to ensure that the benefits of various welfare schemes and programmes reached every eligible citizen. He said the Prajaseva Department had been created specifically to hear people’s concerns and take steps towards resolving them. The initiative is expected to strengthen communication between citizens and government departments while making the delivery of public services more accessible.
The district-level Praja Seva Andolana received 163 applications from members of the public during the programme. Revenue-related matters accounted for the largest share, with 61 applications submitted to the Revenue Department. The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department received 22 applications, while 13 applications were related to the Police Department.

The minister said the objective of the campaign was not merely to receive applications but also to examine them and take appropriate action in accordance with government rules. Departments concerned have been asked to scrutinise the complaints and applications submitted by residents and dispose of them wherever possible. The process is aimed at ensuring that citizens receive clear responses and appropriate remedies to their concerns.
The programme also provides an opportunity for officials to directly understand issues faced by residents at the local level. Applications relating to revenue, rural development, policing and other government services can involve different departments and procedures. By bringing these grievances together through a coordinated programme, the administration can identify pending matters and work towards resolving them within the applicable rules.
Khader said the government would continue to focus on addressing public grievances and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes. The Praja Seva Andolana is expected to serve as a mechanism for reviewing applications received from citizens and directing them to the appropriate departments. The initiative seeks to make government services more responsive by placing public grievances at the centre of the administrative process.
