PM Modi launches ₹15,000 job aid scheme and announces major GST reforms.
During his 12th Independence Day address Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, a landmark scheme to provide ₹15,000 to over 3.5 crore youth entering the private sector job market for the first time.
“From today, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana is being implemented,” Modi declared, emphasizing that the ₹1 lakh crore initiative will also incentivize companies creating employment opportunities, fostering nearly 3.5 crore new jobs. The scheme aligns with the vision of Naya Bharat and Viksit Bharat by 2047, empowering India’s youth to drive economic growth.
Additionally, Modi announced transformative GST reforms to be rolled out by Diwali 2025, describing them as a “bahut bada tohfa” for Indians. The reforms will simplify the tax structure, rationalize slabs, and reduce GST rates on essential items, aiming to ease household burdens, boost consumption, and enhance compliance and transparency.
These initiatives reflect India’s commitment to economic reform, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth as it strides toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
