PM Modi Wishes Dhankhar Well After Resignation

Vice President steps down citing health concerns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended well wishes to Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday, following the latter’s unexpected resignation as Vice President due to health issues. In a post on X, Modi stated, “Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health.”

Dhankhar, 74, submitted his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday evening, citing medical reasons. In his letter, he wrote, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.” The sudden move has sparked discussions, with Dhankhar’s tenure as Vice President, which began in August 2022, marked by significant contributions to the nation.
