PM Modi Vows ‘Befitting Response’ After Red Fort Blast, Reviews Security Measures

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security meeting at his residence on Wednesday evening, directing a decisive response to the terrorist car bombing near Red Fort on Monday that claimed 13 lives and injured over 20. Upon returning from Bhutan, Modi visited LNJP Hospital to meet the injured and stated on social media: “Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice.” The CCS, attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, evaluated National Investigation Agency progress and granted full authority to security agencies to pursue all leads.
No official statement was issued post-meeting, but sources disclosed comprehensive briefings on forensic evidence, digital communications, and cross-border connections linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed network. Recognized as the first vehicle-borne attack since the suspension of Operation Sindoor, the incident prompted an unyielding policy—security forces have been empowered to apprehend every individual involved, whether domestic or foreign, with no leniency.
In a prior Union Cabinet session, members observed two minutes of silence for the victims, condemned the attack as a cowardly act, and reiterated India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. The Cabinet acknowledged international expressions of support and commended emergency personnel for their prompt and effective response amid the destruction of vehicles and loss of life.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially transferred the case to the National Investigation Agency, initiating a coordinated federal investigation across multiple states. Authorities are awaiting final evidence to calibrate appropriate countermeasures against the terror infrastructure, with ongoing operations in Faridabad, Kanpur, and Lucknow targeting the JeM module.
With Delhi under heightened security, Red Fort metro station closed, and nationwide vigilance intensified, the Prime Minister’s consecutive meetings underscore national determination: the perpetrators and their facilitators will face the complete force of state action.
