PM Modi unveils Rs 820-crore projects including Puri rail service and hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil development projects worth approximately Rs 820 crore in West Bengal on Saturday during the Paschimbanga Divas celebrations in Hooghly's Tarakeswar. The initiatives span multiple sectors, including railways, agriculture, rural development, fisheries and animal husbandry, with the aim of strengthening infrastructure and public services across the state.
The Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to West Bengal and will participate in the Paschimbanga Divas programme at Tarakeswar, a town associated with Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The event is expected to bring together political leaders, public representatives and local residents to mark the occasion while highlighting key development initiatives.
As part of the package, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate completed projects and lay the foundation stones for new ones designed to improve connectivity and public welfare. Among the major announcements are railway infrastructure upgrades, including improved rail services linked to Puri, and the establishment of a 300-bed hospital aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities in the region.

The projects also focus on boosting agriculture and allied sectors by strengthening rural infrastructure, fisheries and animal husbandry. Officials expect these initiatives to generate employment opportunities, improve service delivery and contribute to the state's long-term economic and social development.
The development package reflects the Centre's continued emphasis on expanding transport networks and improving access to healthcare and essential services in West Bengal. Railway projects are expected to enhance passenger convenience, while investments in rural sectors are aimed at supporting farmers, fishermen and local communities.
The announcements are likely to form a key highlight of the Paschimbanga Divas celebrations, with the Prime Minister expected to outline the government's broader vision for infrastructure-led growth and inclusive development. The projects, collectively valued at around Rs 820 crore, are intended to strengthen connectivity, healthcare and rural livelihoods across the state.
