PM Modi Unveils ₹6,880 Cr Mega Projects in Bihar
PM unveils major power, health, infra projects in Gayaji.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a transformative array of projects worth Rs 6,880 crore in Bihar’s Gayaji district, headlined by the inauguration of the 660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant. This flagship initiative is set to significantly boost the state’s power generation, enhance energy security, and address the region’s growing electricity needs, according to officials. The high-profile event saw the presence of Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and several Union and state ministers, MPs, and MLAs, underscoring its importance.
Modi also flagged off two pivotal train services: the Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Gayaji to Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train, linking Vaishali to Koderma, which promises to elevate tourism and pilgrimage at key Buddhist sites. In a major healthcare advancement, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur. Equipped with advanced oncology wards, modern laboratories, a blood bank, and a 24-bed ICU and HDU, this state-of-the-art facility aims to deliver affordable cancer care, sparing patients from Bihar and neighboring states the need to travel to distant metros.
Furthering environmental and urban development, Modi launched a Rs 520 crore sewerage treatment plant and network in Munger under the Namami Gange project, aimed at curbing Ganga River pollution and improving sanitation. He also laid the foundation for urban infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,260 crore, including sewerage networks in Daudnagar, Aurangabad, and Jehanabad, and water supply schemes under AMRUT 2.0 in Aurangabad, Bodhgaya, and Jehanabad. Additionally, the Rs 1,900 crore four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31 was unveiled to reduce congestion and enhance connectivity.

A heartfelt ‘griha pravesh’ ceremony celebrated 12,000 rural and 4,260 urban beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with Modi symbolically handing over keys. Later, he is set to inaugurate the 1.86-km Aunta-Simaria Bridge over the Ganga, linking Mokama and Begusarai, further strengthening Bihar’s infrastructure. These initiatives signal a robust push toward development, positioning Bihar for a brighter, more connected future.
