PM Modi Launches Kannada Translations Of Valmiki Ramayana, Vedanta Monks' Stories

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as Viveka Smaraka, built by the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru, and released Kannada translations of the Valmiki Ramayana and Stories of Vedanta Monks. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of making India's spiritual and literary heritage accessible to people, especially the younger generation, through regional languages.

Addressing the significance of the publications, PM Modi said the Kannada translations would help readers connect with India's centuries-old cultural and philosophical traditions in their mother tongue. He emphasised that such initiatives could inspire young people to understand the country's spiritual wisdom and literary contributions while strengthening their connection with India's heritage.

During his visit to the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru, the Prime Minister interacted with monks and appreciated the institution's efforts towards social service, education and youth empowerment. Sharing photographs of his visit on social media platform X, Modi praised the Ashrama's contribution to society and its role in empowering young people through the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna.

The inauguration of the Viveka Smaraka marks a tribute to Swami Vivekananda's association with Mysuru, particularly his visit to the city in 1892. The centre has been envisioned as a space to preserve and promote the ideals of Swami Vivekananda while encouraging young minds to engage with values of service, knowledge and nation-building.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha National President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya welcomed the inauguration, describing it as a significant moment for Karnataka. He said the Viveka Smaraka represents the enduring legacy of Swami Vivekananda and would serve as a source of inspiration for the country's youth.

Surya added that the memorial was more than just a tribute and would function as a centre encouraging young people to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He expressed hope that the initiative would motivate millions of youth to contribute towards building the future of the nation while carrying forward the message of service, determination and self-development.
