PM Modi: India to Lead Global Startup and Tech Trends in Next 10 Years

PM Modi declares India's goal to lead the world in startup trends and technology over the next decade.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday emphasized that India has immense faith in the innovation and potential of its startup ecosystem, urging the nation to aim for global leadership in startup trends and technology in the coming years. Speaking at the decade-long celebration of the Startup India initiative, he said that nations investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology will have a competitive edge in the future.

Modi highlighted the need for startups to focus not only on innovation but also on manufacturing and research. “Today’s research becomes tomorrow’s intellectual property,” he said, stressing that startups should develop solutions with a long-term vision while maintaining high-quality standards in their products.

The Prime Minister also lauded the growth of unicorns in India, noting that many are now launching IPOs and creating jobs, signaling a maturing startup ecosystem. He encouraged founders to work on new ideas that solve real-world problems, reinforcing that entrepreneurship is key to shaping India’s future.

Highlighting government support, Modi recalled that several schemes have been launched to provide seed funding, and outdated regulatory hurdles have been removed to foster innovation. “We have removed outdated rules and trusted innovators,” he said, stressing the role of policy reforms in nurturing startups.

Launched on January 16, 2016, Startup India was designed to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment-driven growth, with the vision of making India a nation of job creators rather than job seekers. Modi’s speech at the anniversary event also included interactions with founders across India’s diverse startup ecosystem, celebrating their contributions and encouraging the next wave of innovators.

By combining policy support, investment opportunities, and a focus on technology, Modi emphasized that India is poised to become a global hub for innovation, research, and cutting-edge startups in the next decade.
