LeT Commander Confirms: India's Operation Sindoor Wiped Out Muridke Terror HQ

Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Hafiz Abdul Rauf admits India's Operation Sindoor destroyed their Muridke headquarters.

In a rare and explosive admission, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Hafiz Abdul Rauf has acknowledged that India’s Operation Sindoor inflicted a devastating blow on the terror group’s nerve centre in Muridke. The strike, carried out on the night of May 6-7, 2025, destroyed the Markaz-e-Taiba complex, which Rauf described as “no longer a mosque” and “completely collapsed.”

Rauf, a US-designated global terrorist and operational head of LeT, admitted during a public address that the Indian operation successfully hit its intended target. He claimed the complex, previously used for training militants and hosting ceremonies, was reduced to rubble, effectively validating India’s account of the strike.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir. Investigators had earlier traced the attack to Chinese-made weapons, which Rauf confirmed were indeed used by LeT and Pakistan-based groups during subsequent confrontations.

Going further, Rauf boasted that Pakistan provides “open freedom for jihad,” facilitating recruitment and training of terrorists with state tolerance and support. He also credited China for providing intelligence assistance, particularly during heightened tensions following the Pahalgam attack, underscoring the strategic dimensions of the Indo-Pakistani conflict.

The confession is particularly striking as it comes from a senior LeT figure, rather than intelligence reports or diplomatic sources. Rauf’s statements also highlighted the resilience of the terror network, noting that a passing-out ceremony for newly trained militants took place at the same complex months after Operation Sindoor, attended by top commanders, including Hafiz Saeed’s son Hafiz Talha Saeed.

Analysts suggest Rauf’s admission exposes the persistent challenges of counterterrorism in the region. It confirms India’s tactical success while underscoring Pakistan’s continued tolerance for terror operations, potentially complicating diplomatic engagements and global counterterrorism efforts.
