PM Modi Inaugurates Halwara Civil Enclave Boosts Punjab Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates new civil terminal at Halwara Airport and renames Adampur facility.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the new civil enclave at Halwara Airport in Punjab’s Ludhiana district this Sunday. The event marks a major step in enhancing aviation infrastructure for the region, coinciding with the 649th birth anniversary celebrations of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. The prime minister will also unveil the renaming of Adampur Airport as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport during his visit.

The development at Halwara addresses long-standing limitations of the previous Ludhiana airport, which had a shorter runway suitable only for smaller aircraft. The new civil enclave features a significantly longer runway capable of accommodating larger A320-type planes. This upgrade promises improved air connectivity for Ludhiana and its surrounding industrial and agricultural areas, serving as a vital gateway for business and travel.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the terminal incorporates eco-friendly elements such as LED lighting, insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting, sewage and water treatment plants, and recycled water for landscaping. These features align with the vision of environmentally responsible development. The architecture draws inspiration from Punjab’s vibrant cultural heritage, providing passengers with a unique and regionally rooted experience.

The renaming of Adampur Airport to Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport honors the revered saint and social reformer. His teachings on equality, compassion, and human dignity continue to resonate deeply in India’s social fabric. The prime minister will personally unveil the new name at Adampur, highlighting the occasion’s cultural and spiritual significance.

This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to modernize Punjab’s aviation network. With better connectivity and modern facilities, Halwara is poised to support economic growth while paying tribute to a key figure in Indian philosophy and reform.
