PM Modi, Giorgia Meloni Publish Joint Article On AI For Inclusive Growth
PM Modi and Giorgia Meloni stress AI as inclusive, human-centred tool in India-Italy partnership vision.
India and Italy have underscored Artificial Intelligence as a key pillar of inclusive global development, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni jointly writing that emerging technologies must be shaped to serve humanity and reduce global inequalities. The statement was made in a joint article published in Italy’s Corriere della Sera during Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Rome.
The leaders said technological innovation lies at the core of the India–Italy partnership, noting that sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and digital infrastructure will define the coming decades. They highlighted that India’s strong digital ecosystem and skilled workforce, combined with Italy’s industrial and technological strengths, create a natural foundation for deeper strategic cooperation.
In the article, both leaders emphasised that Artificial Intelligence should be developed in a responsible and human-centric manner. They said India’s Digital Public Infrastructure is already gaining global recognition, particularly across the Global South, where it is being viewed as a model for accessible and scalable digital transformation.

Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni wrote that both countries envision an open, trustworthy and equitable digital space where all nations can participate in and benefit from AI-driven progress. They stressed that technology must not deepen global divides but instead act as a bridge for inclusive growth, especially through multilingual and accessible digital systems.
The joint article also referenced the importance of ensuring that Artificial Intelligence remains aligned with human values and democratic principles. The leaders cautioned that AI should not replace individuals, undermine fundamental rights, or be used to manipulate public discourse or democratic processes. They described their approach as one that places human dignity at the centre of technological advancement.
Concluding the piece, the leaders said India–Italy relations have entered a “decisive stage,” evolving from traditional friendship into a strategic partnership rooted in shared democratic values. Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni reaffirmed that their collaboration aims to ensure technology becomes a catalyst for social empowerment rather than division, marking a strengthened global vision for responsible innovation.
