PM Modi Extends Gujarat Day Greetings, Praises State’s Development

PM Modi praises Gujarat’s spirit and development on Gujarat Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to the people of Gujarat on the occasion of Gujarat Day, highlighting the state’s vibrant cultural heritage, entrepreneurial spirit, and its significant contribution to India’s overall development. Gujarat Day is observed annually on May 1 to mark the formation of the state in 1960 after it was separated from the erstwhile Bombay State.

In his message posted on social media platform X, PM Modi described Gujarat as a state known for its dynamic and enterprising population. He said the people of Gujarat have consistently played an important role in India’s progress across various sectors, including trade, industry, and social development. He also expressed confidence that the state will continue to achieve new milestones in growth and development in the coming years.

Modi further noted that Gujarat’s journey reflects a blend of tradition and modernity, with strong cultural roots and a forward-looking development model. He emphasised that the state’s contribution to India’s economic growth has been “outstanding,” and praised its ability to combine cultural identity with innovation and enterprise.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings on the occasion, calling Gujarat a land of rich history, culture, and entrepreneurship. In his message, he highlighted the state’s role in nation-building from the freedom movement to contemporary economic development. Shah said Gujarat has consistently contributed to the idea of “One India, Great India” while preserving its cultural heritage both within the country and abroad.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also conveyed greetings to citizens in India and abroad, describing Gujarat as a symbol of good governance, peace, and progress. He credited leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for shaping the state’s foundational values. Patel added that Gujarat is now focusing on emerging sectors such as green energy, semiconductors, and advanced technologies to strengthen its position in the global economy.

Gujarat Day celebrations are marked by cultural programmes, public events, and official functions across the state, reflecting its identity and achievements. The day serves as a reminder of Gujarat’s historical journey and its evolving role in India’s development story, with leaders reaffirming their commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous future for the state.
