PM Modi Addresses Indian Diaspora On India’s Cultural Diversity In Netherlands
PM Modi says India’s diverse culture lives through its people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a large gathering of the Indian diaspora during his visit to the Netherlands on Saturday, said that India’s diverse cultural identity continues to thrive through its people, even across generations and continents. The Prime Minister described The Hague as a “living symbol of Indian friendship” while praising the energy, enthusiasm, and cultural vibrancy of the Indian community in the Netherlands. He said the warmth of the gathering made it feel as though he was attending a festival in India rather than speaking abroad.
Beginning his address with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” Modi said the overwhelming response from the diaspora briefly made him forget that he was in the Netherlands. He remarked that the atmosphere reflected the strong emotional and cultural bond Indians abroad continue to maintain with their homeland.Highlighting the resilience of Indian culture, the Prime Minister noted that while history has seen many civilisations fade away, India’s cultural diversity and traditions remain alive through its people.
He said this continuity is sustained by Indians who carry their heritage with them wherever they go, contributing to societies across the world while preserving their roots.Referring to The Hague’s global identity as the “City of Peace and Justice,” Modi said the presence of such a large and enthusiastic Indian community had given the city a new dimension, turning it into a symbol of friendship between India and the Netherlands. He emphasised that despite differences in geography, nationality, and time zones, the spirit of “Maa Bharati” remains a unifying force among Indians worldwide.
