Passenger Calls Railway Helpline After Family Group Turns Train into a Dance Floor

A passenger complained to railway police after a large group disrupted fellow travellers with loud reels.

A video shared by passenger Manmohan Verma has sparked a debate online after he described his train journey as a “live reality show” due to disruptive behaviour by fellow passengers. The incident reportedly took place on the Garib Rath Express during a trip from Bilaspur to Lucknow.

According to Verma, a large family group of around 25–30 people occupied a coach and began playing loud music, shouting, dancing, and filming social media reels. In the video shared on Instagram, the group can be seen treating the coach like a personal studio, creating a noisy environment that disturbed other passengers who were trying to travel peacefully.

Frustrated by the situation, Verma contacted the railway helpline 139, which led to the intervention of the Railway Protection Force. Railway police personnel entered the coach and eventually brought the situation under control.

In the caption of his post, Verma criticised the lack of civic sense in shared public spaces. He wrote that a train coach is not a private living room or a place to film reels and emphasised that travellers should respect others by keeping noise levels low and maintaining basic courtesy.

The video triggered a widespread discussion on social media about public behaviour in transport systems operated by Indian Railways. Many users complained that similar incidents have become common, with passengers filming dance videos or celebrating loudly in trains, buses, and metros.

Some commenters shared their own experiences of disruptive journeys, while others argued that increasing social media trends have encouraged people to prioritise content creation over consideration for fellow passengers. The incident has once again highlighted the growing debate about maintaining civic discipline in crowded public spaces.
