Operation PIMPLE: Security Forces Neutralize Two Terrorists in Encounter During LoC Operation
Security forces foil LoC infiltration bid in Keran.
Security forces neutralized two terrorists in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, successfully thwarting an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector. The operation, dubbed Operation PIMPLE, was launched Friday evening based on specific intelligence from multiple agencies indicating a possible cross-border movement of militants from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence units established surveillance in the forward area. Alert troops detected suspicious movement near the LoC and issued a challenge. The infiltrators responded with heavy, indiscriminate fire, triggering a fierce exchange. The forces returned fire with precision, trapping the terrorists in a narrow, forested gorge. By Saturday morning, two militants had been confirmed killed, with their bodies yet to be retrieved due to active search operations.
The Chinar Corps posted on X: “Operation PIMPLE, Keran, Kupwara: Based on specific intel, joint op launched. Alert troops spotted activity, challenged—terrorists opened fire. Contact established, two terrorists neutralized. Operation in progress.” Weapons, ammunition, and war-like stores are expected to be recovered once the area is fully sanitized.

This marks the second major infiltration bid foiled in Kupwara within a month. On October 14, troops eliminated two terrorists during a similar attempt in the same district. Kupwara, with its dense forests and proximity to the LoC, remains a high-priority sector for anti-infiltration grids. Over 300 infiltration attempts have been reported along the Jammu and Kashmir frontier in 2025, with security forces claiming over 80% success in prevention.
The operation continues with additional reinforcements, drones, and sniffer dogs deployed to scan the rugged terrain for possible hideouts or explosives. Authorities suspect the terrorists belonged to a Pakistan-backed group aiming to disrupt peace ahead of winter, when snow often restricts movement. The encounter reinforces the Indian Army’s dominance along the volatile LoC, sending a strong message against cross-border terrorism.
