One Injured As Mob Attacks Meghalaya Police Team During Transit In Nuh
Mob attacks Meghalaya Police team in Nuh during transit of ATM theft accused; one injured, 12 booked.
Twelve individuals have been booked for attempt to murder after a mob attacked a Meghalaya Police team and tried to free an accused from custody in Nuh, Haryana, on Tuesday. The confrontation occurred while police were transporting Rahul Khan, a resident of Wajidpur village, to Meghalaya on a transit remand in connection with an ATM robbery case. During the incident, police fired in self-defence, injuring one youth.
According to Nuh Police, the incident took place near the Pinangwa police station area, close to Sikrawa village and HR-93 Donga Hotel. Additional Superintendent of Police Ayush Yadav said the accused attempted to grab the steering wheel of the police vehicle and overturn it, triggering a chaotic situation. Soon after, 20 to 30 people, including women, surrounded the vehicle, tried to snatch keys and firearms, and attempted to release the accused.
Police resorted to firing to disperse the mob. During the confrontation, Tarif Khan of Sikrawa village sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was admitted to PGIMS Rohtak, where officials confirmed his condition is stable. Evidence collected at the scene included two empty cartridges, blood samples, and a blood-stained pant, which were examined by a forensic team.

An FIR was filed based on a complaint by Sub-Inspector Arkidalang Wahlang of the East Khasi Hills Police Station in Meghalaya. The 12 named accused in the FIR include Naseem, Farooq, Maimuna, Saharuni, Mustakeem, Shahid, Khuddi, Khalid, Bhupat, Zafar, Tarif Khan, and Rahul Khan. Several unidentified individuals were also booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempt to murder.
Rahul Khan is reportedly wanted in multiple ATM theft cases, including incidents registered at Dwarka and Dabri police stations in Delhi, as well as cases investigated by Meghalaya’s Special Cell. Authorities also suspect his involvement in ATM cutting cases in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Special teams have been formed by Nuh Police to apprehend those involved in the attack. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident and ensure accountability for the assault on the Meghalaya Police team.
