BMRCL Announces Early Metro Services To Help Bengaluru Commuters Join Police Run Event

Bengaluru Metro will begin operations at 5 AM Sunday for Karnataka State Police Run participants.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced early morning operations for Namma Metro on Sunday, March 1, to support commuters attending the Karnataka State Level Police Run. Metro services, which usually start at 7:00 am, will begin at 5:00 am across all terminal stations to facilitate travel for participants in the event.

Early services will operate on all lines. On the Purple Line, trains will run from Whitefield and Challaghatta terminals. The Green Line will start services from Madavara and Silk Institute stations, while the Yellow Line will operate from Bommasandra and RV Road terminals. This adjustment is being made specifically to ensure smooth transit for attendees of the police run scheduled in the city.

The Karnataka State Level Police Run is organised annually by the Karnataka State Police in collaboration with the State Bank of India, Bengaluru Circle. This is the third edition of the event, first launched in 2024 to commemorate 50 years of the state police force. The 2026 edition carries the theme “Namma Police Namma Hemme” (Our Police, Our Pride), recognising the dedication and service of the police in protecting the state.

The event is expected to draw over 10,000 participants of varying age groups. It features two categories: a Timed 10K Run for professional and experienced runners, and an Awareness 5K Run open to the general public, aimed at promoting fitness and community participation. Both runs will start and conclude at Vidhana Soudha, passing through Cubbon Park along the route.

BMRCL has requested commuters to plan their travel accordingly, noting that early metro operations will ensure participants reach the venue on time. This marks a rare adjustment in Bengaluru’s metro schedule, reflecting the city’s support for community-focused events and public participation in civic initiatives.

The Karnataka State Police emphasised that the run is intended not only as a fitness activity but also as a celebration of civic pride and acknowledgement of the role of law enforcement in the state. With metro services running early, participants and spectators can expect smooth transit and timely arrival for the start of the event.
