Odisha on High Alert: 4 Days of Heavy Rain Incoming as Bay of Bengal Brews Storm

Heavy rain and thunderstorms expected across Odisha for four days as low-pressure system strengthens.

Odisha is set to experience intense rainfall over the next four days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Sunday, following the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD officials, the weather system developed around 8:30 AM and is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours. It is expected to make landfall between the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts by the morning of August 19.

Under the influence of this system, widespread heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is predicted across various districts of Odisha. The IMD has specifically flagged Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada for potentially severe weather conditions on Monday.
