Noida’s Hard Crackdown Shows Results as Helmet Violations Plummet

Noida sees a major drop in helmet violations this November, reflecting stronger enforcement during Road Safety Month.

Noida traffic police recorded a significant drop in helmetless two-wheeler riding during November 2025 compared to the same month last year, crediting sustained awareness drives and stricter enforcement during the ongoing “Road Safety Month.” Officials said 147,364 challans were issued for riding without helmets this November—a sharp decline from the 222,407 violations recorded in November 2024, marking a reduction of over 33 percent.

The month-long campaign, which runs through December, has seen intensified checking at key junctions, school zones, and commercial hubs across the city. Authorities attribute the improved compliance to a combination of heavy fining, seizure of vehicles in repeat cases, widespread social media awareness videos featuring accident survivors, and collaboration with resident welfare associations and colleges.

Overall, Noida traffic police issued 331,090 challans in November 2025 for various violations. Besides the helmet rule, major infractions included 36,057 cases of illegal parking, 28,811 instances of wrong-lane driving, 18,300 for speeding, and 12,290 for triple-riding on two-wheelers. Separate drives also targeted air and noise pollution, resulting in 16,936 and 2,362 challans, respectively.

Police officials described the falling helmetless riding numbers as an encouraging sign of behavioral change among commuters, especially youngsters. “When people see vehicles being impounded and licenses suspended for repeated offenses, compliance improves,” a senior traffic officer said, adding that similar focused campaigns will continue in December to sustain the momentum and further reduce road fatalities in the rapidly growing NCR city.
