Mumbai Kalyan Accident: Dumper Truck Collision Kills 9, Two Critically Injured
Nine killed and two critically injured in Mumbai Kalyan dumper truck collision accident.
At least nine people were killed and two others critically injured after a dumper truck collided with a car on the Rayta Bridge along the Kalyan–Murbad road in the Kalyan area on Monday, according to police and official reports.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. when a car travelling from Kalyan towards Murbad reportedly collided head-on with a mixer truck near the Rayta Bridge. Authorities said the impact of the crash was severe, leading to multiple fatalities at the scene and triggering an emergency response from local police and rescue teams.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 12 passengers were travelling in the car at the time of the accident. Of these, eight people died on the spot, while another victim succumbed to injuries later while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. The two surviving passengers remain in critical condition and are receiving medical care.

Soon after the incident was reported, personnel from Titwala Police Station rushed to the site and initiated rescue and relief operations. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, while the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Locals also assisted in rescue efforts before emergency services arrived.
Thane Superintendent of Police D.S. Swami confirmed the fatalities, stating that the death toll had reached nine, with two individuals still in critical condition. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision, with early indications suggesting possible over-speeding or loss of control as contributing factors.
The crash led to a major traffic disruption on the Kalyan–Murbad highway near Rayta Bridge, causing long delays and congestion in the surrounding stretch. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
