MP CM Mohan Yadav To Perform Bhoomi Pujan For Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor

Madhya Pradesh launches Indore-Pithampur corridor project to boost industry and infrastructure growth.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to perform Bhoomi Pujan on Sunday for the first phase of the Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor project. The ceremony will be held at Sector A, Village Nainod in Indore, marking the formal beginning of infrastructure development work under the flagship initiative.

The first phase of the project is estimated to cost ₹326.51 crore and will kick-start large-scale construction activities aimed at transforming the industrial landscape of the region. According to an official press note, the corridor is designed as a major development push to enhance connectivity and support industrial expansion in and around Indore.

The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor spans approximately 1,300 hectares and is projected to cost around ₹2,360 crore in total. The development plan includes a 75-metre-wide, 20-kilometre-long road, with structured development planned across a 300-metre zone on both sides. Officials say the corridor will integrate modern infrastructure facilities to support industrial, commercial, and service-sector growth.

A key component of the project is land acquisition, which had initially posed challenges due to high demand for land in the region’s proximity to Indore city. To address this, the government has adopted a consent-based approach, offering farmers developed land in return for their original holdings. The allocation share has also been increased from 50 per cent to 60 per cent, a move officials say has improved farmer participation and confidence in the project.

Under the rehabilitation and development framework, farmers will receive plots equipped with basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water supply. Authorities believe this will enable them to use the land for residential, commercial, or other income-generating activities, thereby creating long-term economic benefits for local communities.

Officials have described the corridor as a major step toward strengthening regional connectivity and attracting investment into Madhya Pradesh’s industrial sector. The project is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities, particularly for local youth, and contribute to broader socio-economic development in the region as construction progresses.
