MP CM To Perform Bhoomi Pujan For Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor On May 3
MP CM Mohan Yadav to launch Indore-Pithampur economic corridor, boosting infrastructure and farmer-linked development.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the first phase of the Indore–Pithampur Economic Corridor project on May 3 at Sector A, Village Nainod in Indore. The event marks the formal launch of groundwork for a major infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming the region’s industrial and economic landscape. The project is being positioned as a flagship development plan for western Madhya Pradesh.
The first phase of the corridor is estimated to cost around ₹326.51 crore and will initiate large-scale infrastructure development in the region. According to official statements, the broader project spans approximately 1,300 hectares and involves the development of a 75-metre-wide, 20-kilometre-long road with structured development on both sides. Authorities say the plan is designed to support industrial, commercial, and service-sector growth in a planned manner.
A key feature of the initiative is land acquisition and redistribution, which has been a major focus of the state government. The allocation of developed land to farmers has been increased from 50 per cent to 60 per cent, a move officials say has helped build trust and encourage voluntary participation. The government claims this revised formula has eased resistance from landowners and improved cooperation in project implementation.

Under the scheme, farmers whose land is acquired for the corridor will receive developed plots equipped with basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, and drainage systems. Officials say this model is intended to provide long-term economic benefits to landowners, allowing them to use the developed plots for residential, commercial, or income-generating activities in the future.
The Indore–Pithampur corridor is expected to significantly strengthen connectivity between key industrial zones and improve logistics efficiency in the region. Government officials believe the project will attract large-scale private investment and create new employment opportunities, particularly for local youth. The corridor is also seen as part of a broader strategy to modernise infrastructure and boost industrial competitiveness in Madhya Pradesh.
However, the project has also faced challenges, particularly regarding land acquisition in high-demand areas near Indore city. Authorities say balancing development goals with farmers’ interests has been crucial to ensuring smooth progress. With the Bhoomi Pujan scheduled, the state government is now moving ahead with execution, projecting the corridor as a long-term driver of socio-economic development in the region.
