Five MPs take oath, House honors Pahalgam attack and Air India crash victims.

The Rajya Sabha’s Monsoon Session began with a solemn yet significant moment as five members, including three nominated MPs, took their oath of allegiance to the Constitution. Birendra Prasad Baishya (AJP), Kanad Purkayastha (BJP), and nominated members Meenakshi Jain, C Sadanandan Master, and Harsh Vardhan Shringla were sworn in, marking the start of their parliamentary tenure.

The House paid heartfelt tributes to victims of the April Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and the June Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. It also honored former members C Perumal, K Kasturirangan, Ronald Sapa Tlau, Nepaldev Bhattacharjee, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Thennala G Balakrishna Pillai, and Vijaykumar Rupani, who recently passed away, with obituary references.

Adding a lighter note, the Rajya Sabha extended birthday greetings to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, alongside Laxmikant Bajpai, Rajeev Shukla, and Sangeeta Yadav, fostering a moment of unity amidst the session’s serious proceedings.
