CM Mohan Majhi Watches ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’, Kangana Requests Tax-Free Status

Kangana seeks tax relief for workforce-focused film.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday attended a special screening of the upcoming Hindi film ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’ in Bhubaneswar, joining actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut, senior ministers and party leaders at the event. The screening, held at a local cinema hall ahead of the film’s nationwide release on June 12, also drew members of the film’s production team, prominent figures from the Odia film industry, media representatives and cinema enthusiasts.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi praised Kangana Ranaut for her journey from the entertainment industry to public life, describing her achievements as a result of determination, dedication and hard work. He said her success story serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists and young professionals seeking to build careers through perseverance. The Chief Minister also appreciated efforts to produce films that highlight national values and the contributions of ordinary citizens.

Addressing the media after the screening, Ranaut requested the Odisha government to consider declaring ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’ tax-free in the state. She stated that the film carries a message that every Indian should watch and understand. According to the actress-politician, the state government responded positively to the request and assured that the proposal would be examined. She added that the project was created not merely for commercial success but to honour individuals whose work often remains unnoticed despite its importance to society.

Ranaut explained that the film is a tribute to India’s often-overlooked workforce, including nurses, watchmen, lift operators, electricity and water department employees, weavers and countless workers in both government and private sectors. She said these individuals play a vital role in keeping the nation functioning on a daily basis and deserve greater recognition for their contributions. The film seeks to bring their stories and sacrifices into public focus while celebrating their role in nation-building.

The special screening came on the same day that World Environment Day was observed across the country. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Majhi and Ranaut participated in a tree-planting programme at the Chief Minister’s official residence under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. The initiative encourages citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers while contributing to environmental conservation and sustainable development efforts.

Speaking about the campaign, Ranaut said environmental responsibility should not be limited to public representatives and government officials but should become a people’s movement involving every citizen. She urged individuals across the country to participate by planting trees and supporting conservation efforts. With the film set for release on June 12, the actress expressed hope that its message of recognising everyday contributors to society would resonate with audiences nationwide.
