Mob Attacks Police in Patna, 5 Injured
Violent protest over child murders sparks chaos in Patna.
A violent mob in Patna’s Indrapuri area attacked police personnel, injuring five officers, including a woman constable, while demanding justice for the murder of two children found dead inside a car on August 15. The furious crowd, frustrated by the lack of arrests in the case, blocked traffic, set two police vehicles ablaze, and pelted stones at officers, escalating tensions in the Bihar capital.
Patna (Central) SP Diksha, who was among those manhandled, reported that the mob turned violent when police attempted to manage the situation. “They damaged police vehicles and attacked us with stones,” she told PTI. In response, police used mild force to disperse the crowd and arrested ten individuals, including some women, involved in the violence. SP Diksha added that more arrests are expected as authorities analyze CCTV footage to identify additional perpetrators.
The unrest stems from public outrage over the unresolved murders of two children, a case that has gripped the community and fueled demands for swift action. “The accused will be nabbed very soon,” SP Diksha assured, emphasizing ongoing efforts to crack the case. The injured officers sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment, while the damaged vehicles highlight the intensity of the confrontation.
