Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Interacts With Students, Shares Motivational Message

CM Conrad Sangma motivates students during interactive session.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has won widespread appreciation after a heartfelt interaction with a school student during an education programme in Shillong, where he encouraged her to believe in herself while addressing questions on coping with life’s challenges and self-doubt.

The interaction took place at Pine Mount School during the inauguration of the Meghalaya Teacher Training Academy, the “She Thrives” initiative aimed at empowering girls, and a newly developed boarding facility. The event brought together students, teachers and officials as part of the state’s broader push to strengthen education infrastructure and student welfare programmes.

During an interactive session, a visibly nervous student asked the Chief Minister how individuals should move forward when faced with difficulties and when hope begins to fade. The question drew attention from the audience, reflecting concerns often faced by young students dealing with academic and personal pressures.

Responding to the student, Sangma said there is no single formula for overcoming life’s challenges, as every individual’s journey is different. He advised her to identify her passion, stay committed to her goals and maintain confidence in her own abilities, emphasising that belief in oneself is key to moving forward in difficult times.

“There is no single answer that fits everyone. But if you truly believe in yourself and pursue what you are passionate about, you will always find the strength to move forward,” the Chief Minister said, offering reassurance and encouragement to the student.

Following his response, Sangma walked up to the student and hugged her, a gesture that drew applause from those present at the venue. The moment was captured on video and quickly circulated on social media, where many users praised the Chief Minister for his empathetic and supportive approach. The interaction has also sparked broader discussion online about the importance of addressing emotional well-being, self-confidence and mental health alongside academic development in schools, highlighting the need for supportive environments that encourage students to openly express their struggles.
