Delhi L-G Urges IIM Rohtak Students To Believe In Themselves During Campus Address
Delhi L-G encourages IIM Rohtak students to build confidence and self-belief.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena on Saturday addressed students at the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak, urging them to build confidence in themselves as a foundation for effective leadership. He said that self-belief, clarity of thought, and strong communication are essential traits for future leaders in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saxena told the incoming batch during the institute’s Inauguration and Orientation Programme 2026 that leadership is not about exercising authority but about inspiring trust. He added that genuine leadership grows from conviction and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances while guiding others with purpose.
He highlighted India’s rapid development trajectory, noting that the country is simultaneously expanding infrastructure, strengthening digital systems, boosting manufacturing, and promoting financial inclusion. He said these developments place significant responsibility on young managers, as their decisions can influence employment, urban growth, and broader social outcomes.

The Lieutenant Governor also pointed out that the traditional boundaries between public and private sectors are increasingly blurred. He said fields such as healthcare, education, logistics, technology, and governance are now deeply interconnected, requiring professionals who can think across disciplines rather than operate in isolated domains.
Saxena stressed that management education is no longer limited to technical problem-solving, but is increasingly about judgment and decision-making in uncertain environments. He said judgment develops over time through exposure to complexity, diverse perspectives, and situations where there is no single correct answer, making experiential learning essential.
Addressing the students directly, he encouraged them to use their academic journey to expand their thinking rather than focusing solely on career preparation. He said the next two years should be used to build intellectual discipline and the ability to make balanced decisions, preparing them for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving world.
