Major Breakthrough! Punjab Police Seize 85 Kg Heroin, Bust ISI-Linked Narco Module

Punjab Police Seize 85 Kg Heroin

In the year’s largest drug bust, Punjab Police dismantled a cross-border narco-smuggling module controlled by Pakistan’s ISI and operated by UK-based drug handler Lalli, seizing 85 kg of heroin valued at Rs 595 crore, police announced Friday.

The operation led to the arrest of Lalli’s India-based operative, Amarjot Singh, alias Jota Sandhu, from Bhittewad village, Amritsar, who was receiving consignments from Pakistan-based smugglers and distributing drugs across Punjab.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said Amarjot’s residence was a key stash point for the network. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, with investigations ongoing to uncover further links.

“We expect more arrests and recoveries soon,” Yadav added. The heroin, smuggled across the border, underscores the module’s extensive reach.

The bust aligns with Punjab’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drug campaign, now in its 75th day. On Thursday, police conducted cordon and search operations at bus stands statewide, checking suspicious individuals, said Special DGP Arpit Shukla.

Concurrently, raids at 486 locations led to 83 FIRs and 124 arrests, bringing the total drug smugglers arrested to 11,208.

In Gurdaspur, authorities demolished the illegally built homes of drug smugglers Baljinder and Lakhwinder in Dida Sansia village, both with extensive criminal records under the NDPS and Excise Acts.

Senior Superintendent of Police Aaditya noted Baljinder faces 10 FIRs and Lakhwinder 12, highlighting Punjab’s aggressive crackdown on narco-trafficking.
