Maharashtra CM Sets March 31 Deadline for AMRUT 2.0 Projects
Fadnavis Pushes for Timely Urban Upgrades
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has mandated that all pending projects under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, focusing on water supply, sewerage, green spaces, and lake rejuvenation, be completed by March 31, 2026. During a review meeting of the social sector war room at Sahyadri Guest House, Fadnavis emphasized the urgency of executing these projects in “mission mode” to enhance urban living standards across the state.
The AMRUT 2.0 initiative, launched on October 1, 2021, with a budget of Rs 2,99,000 crore, including Rs 9,310 crore allocated to Maharashtra, aims to ensure universal water supply and sewerage management in 500 cities, alongside promoting a circular water economy. Fadnavis directed officials to secure all statutory permissions before starting construction to prevent delays, stressing phased approvals for seamless progress. He highlighted Maharashtra’s 303 approved projects worth Rs 31,722.23 crore, with 124 awarded and 179 in the tendering stage, underscoring the scale of the initiative.
Fadnavis also reviewed other central schemes, urging departments to avoid lagging in implementation. He called for the completion of health and wellness centers under the National Health Mission, emphasizing manpower planning in the paramedical sector and infrastructure upgrades for nursing colleges. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure all eligible beneficiaries are covered under the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, now under the Women and Child Development Department, and to expedite approvals for projects under the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
