Madhya Pradesh Seals Dhar With Advanced Tech For Basant Panchami
Dhar was sealed with AI, LiDAR, and 3D mapping to secure the Bhojshala complex on Basant Panchami Friday.
As Basant Panchami approaches, the historic town of Dhar in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore division has been transformed into a high-security zone, with authorities rolling out unprecedented measures to prevent any law-and-order situation. This year, the festival coincides with Friday prayers, heightening administrative alert due to the sensitive nature of the Bhojshala Temple–Kamal Maula Mosque complex.
The centuries-old site has long been at the centre of religious sensitivities, and officials say the overlap of religious observances has necessitated extraordinary precautions. On the day of the festival, Dhar will effectively be sealed, with strict movement controls, checkpoints, and heightened surveillance across the town and its surrounding areas.
What sets this year apart is the extensive use of advanced technology in security planning. For the first time, authorities have deployed artificial intelligence-powered monitoring systems, LiDAR-based terrain scanning, and detailed 3D mapping of the entire town. Every street, entry point, and sensitive zone has been digitally mapped to enable real-time tracking and rapid response in case of any disturbance.

Senior officials said the 3D city mapping allows police to simulate crowd movement, identify potential choke points, and pre-position forces accordingly. Surveillance drones, high-resolution cameras, and AI-based facial recognition tools will feed live data to a central command centre, enabling swift decision-making throughout the day.
A multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place, involving state police, special armed forces, and rapid response teams. Additional personnel have been deployed from neighbouring districts, while traffic diversions and prohibitory orders will remain in force to limit large gatherings near sensitive locations.
The administration has appealed to residents to cooperate with security forces and maintain communal harmony. Officials stressed that the measures are preventive in nature and aimed solely at ensuring peaceful observance of religious practices, underscoring that maintaining law and order remains the state’s top priority as Basant Panchami and Friday prayers coincide.
