Lawyer Dies In Hyderabad After Being Hit By Scorpio Vehicle, Police Suspect Murder
Hyderabad lawyer dies after Scorpio hit; murder suspected.
A 63-year-old senior lawyer died after being struck by a car outside his residence in the Masab Tank area of Hyderabad in an incident police are treating as a suspected pre-planned murder, triggering a full-scale investigation and concerns within the legal community. The deceased, Khaja Moizuddin, was reportedly preparing to leave his home on Saturday when a green-coloured Mahindra Scorpio allegedly rammed into him as he stood beside his parked vehicle. According to preliminary accounts from police and CCTV observations, the SUV appeared to change its direction moments before impact, striking the lawyer with significant force.
Visual evidence reviewed by investigators reportedly shows Moizuddin placing a bag inside his Toyota Innova before moving toward the driver’s seat. At that moment, the approaching vehicle allegedly swerved and hit him directly, throwing him approximately 15 to 20 feet from his car. The severity of the impact left him critically injured at the scene. Local residents immediately rushed him to Mahavir Hospital, after which he was transferred to another medical facility for advanced treatment. Despite emergency medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing care, police confirmed.
Following the incident, the victim’s family strongly alleged that the attack was deliberate and linked to ongoing legal disputes handled by Moizuddin. His son, advocate Mohammad Farhan, claimed that the lawyer had been involved in multiple cases concerning alleged encroachments of waqf properties and had faced threats in connection with these disputes. The family has suggested that the incident may be part of a broader pattern of intimidation related to his legal work. Farhan also stated that his father had previously encountered threats and attempts to pressure him in relation to sensitive property litigation. He further named two individuals as suspects, urging police to treat the case as a targeted killing rather than a routine traffic accident. The family has demanded a comprehensive investigation to establish whether there was a conspiracy behind the incident.

Police officials have registered a hit-and-run case and confirmed that multiple investigative teams have been deployed to trace the vehicle involved in the incident. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area, analysing vehicle movement patterns, and collecting forensic evidence to determine whether the act was accidental or executed with intent. Senior officers said that all possible angles, including personal enmity, professional disputes, and planned assassination, are being explored as part of the investigation. The vehicle suspected to have been used in the incident is yet to be traced, and efforts are ongoing to identify the occupants.
The incident has sparked concern within Hyderabad’s legal fraternity, with several advocates expressing alarm over the safety of lawyers handling sensitive property and land dispute cases. Legal associations have called for swift action against those responsible and urged authorities to enhance protection mechanisms for legal professionals engaged in high-risk litigation. As investigations continue, police have reiterated that conclusions will be drawn only after all technical evidence, witness statements, and forensic reports are thoroughly analysed. The case remains under active inquiry, with law enforcement agencies working to determine whether the death was a targeted attack or a staged hit-and-run incident.
