Kashmiri Muslim Leaders Extend Support To Amarnath Yatra Amid Peace Appeal

Kashmiri Muslim religious leaders, local legislators and civil society groups have extended unanimous support for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, days before the annual pilgrimage begins in Jammu and Kashmir. The collective backing comes amid preparations to facilitate thousands of devotees expected to undertake the journey to the holy shrine in the Himalayas, with authorities intensifying coordination efforts to ensure security, logistics and community participation during the Yatra period.

Ahead of the pilgrimage, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also serves as the chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, convened a meeting with representatives from across Kashmir, including religious leaders and civil society members. During the interaction, Sinha described the participants as custodians of spiritual tradition and guardians of the nation's moral conscience. He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that the pilgrimage is conducted peacefully and respectfully, urging all stakeholders to contribute towards a safe and memorable experience for visiting devotees.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha highlighted the long-standing spiritual significance of the Amarnath Yatra and its importance in preserving India's cultural and religious heritage. He called for continued cooperation from local communities, stating that each stakeholder plays a vital role in maintaining the sanctity of the pilgrimage and ensuring that devotees feel welcomed and secure. The Lieutenant Governor underscored that administrative preparedness alone is not sufficient, and that community participation remains essential for the successful conduct of the annual religious event.
