#JUST IN: U.S. Offers To Facilitate India Pakistan Dialogue! Rubio Dials India and Pak
US Pushes for De-escalation in India-Pakistan Conflict
A short while ago, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in separate phone calls with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, urging both nations to de-escalate tensions and restore direct communication to prevent miscalculations.
The diplomatic outreach follows India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Pakistan’s subsequent failed drone attacks on 26 Indian locations, including Jammu, Srinagar, and Gujarat, on May 9.
Rubio emphasized the need for both countries to identify methods to avoid further escalation, offering US support to facilitate “productive discussions” aimed at averting future conflicts. He reiterated this message in his conversation with Dar, stressing the importance of dialogue to maintain stability in South Asia.

Earlier, Rubio had also spoken with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, extending similar offers of US assistance for constructive talks.
The White House underscored President Donald Trump’s desire for a swift de-escalation, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noting the decades-long rivalry between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
Tensions escalated after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, prompting India’s retaliatory strikes and Pakistan’s drone incursions. Despite global calls for restraint, including from the G7 and UN, both nations remain on edge, with India’s Jaishankar asserting a “measured and responsible” approach. The US continues to advocate for dialogue to prevent a broader regional crisis.
