BSF Thwarts Intrusion, Punjab Braces Amid Rising Tensions
In a decisive action, the Border Security Force (BSF) neutralized a Pakistani intruder in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector today.
The unidentified infiltrator was spotted crossing the International Border near Gate No. 207/1 by Lakha Singh Wala BSF post and was gunned down, officials confirmed. Dr. Manpreet Singh, Emergency Medical Officer at Ferozepur’s government hospital, reported the body was handed over to police for identification.
Amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions following precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, Punjab’s border districts are on high alert. Gurdaspur imposed a blackout from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., allowing lighting only in jails and hospitals with covered windows.

In Amritsar, missile fragments were recovered in Jethuwal, Dudhala, and Pandher villages, with no reported explosions. Forensic teams are investigating their origin, while defense experts suggest India’s anti-missile systems may have neutralized a potential Pakistani attack.
Locals in Amritsar reported hearing six blast-like sounds between 1:02 a.m. and 1:09 a.m. during a citywide blackout, sparking social media panic. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney urged calm, emphasizing precautionary measures. Some villagers in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran have begun relocating to safer areas, despite no official evacuation orders.
The Punjab government, led by AAP, has canceled public events and police leaves, pledging full support to the Indian Army. Punjab Police, described as the “second line of defense,” are collaborating closely with security forces along the 532-km border. Arora called for adherence to government guidelines to ensure public safety, as the state stands united against external threats.
