Jitin Prasada: AI Impact Summit 2026 Is India’s Mahakumbh for Artificial Intelligence
Union Minister hails India’s AI Impact Summit as a turning point in digital leadership.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, on Monday described the five-day AI Impact Summit 2026 as a “Mahakumbh for artificial intelligence,” highlighting its scale and participation as a historic milestone in India’s digital journey. The minister spoke during the session titled ‘From AI User to Creator,’ urging innovators to develop AI-driven solutions to enhance India’s self-reliance and global technological standing.
Prasada emphasized that India has evolved from being primarily a consumer of AI to a creator of cutting-edge AI solutions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that technology and trade are now twin engines of economic growth, warning that countries failing to adapt rapidly risk losing global competitiveness.
The minister highlighted India’s status as a global talent hub while cautioning that its advantage could diminish without continuous skill upgrades and practical AI application. He stressed the need to move beyond academic discussions, making AI a tool for capacity building, especially among youth, and encouraged sector-specific and region-specific adoption of technology.

Countries of the Global South, Prasada said, are increasingly seeking AI solutions with direct societal impact rather than theoretical debates. He urged policymakers and industry leaders to ensure AI enhances both ease of doing business and ease of living for citizens, emphasizing that advanced technology must be democratized and accessible to all.
Prasada also stressed the importance of data, calling it the “fuel of the AI ecosystem,” and noted steps being taken to provide quality data for meaningful technological transformation. The minister underscored the role of AI in delivering tangible societal benefits, including improving public services and economic productivity.
The India AI Impact Expo 2026 is expected to draw over 2.5 lakh visitors, including international delegates, and aims to foster global partnerships, investment opportunities, and collaborations across the AI ecosystem, marking a significant leap in India’s journey toward digital leadership.
