IndiGo Flight 6E 1302 Diverted To Muscat After Pilot Requires Medical Attention

Pilot requires medical attention, prompting IndiGo flight diversion to Muscat.

An IndiGo flight from Doha to Bengaluru was diverted to Muscat on Thursday after the pilot-in-command reported feeling unwell during the journey and required urgent medical attention. Flight 6E 1302, operating from Doha to Bengaluru on September 3, landed safely in Muscat, where the pilot was attended to by a medical team. The pilot was later taken to a hospital and is now reported to be fine.

Following the diversion, IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft and a fresh set of crew members to continue the passengers' journey to Bengaluru. The airline is sending a relief flight from Bengaluru to Muscat to transport the stranded passengers to their intended destination. The arrangements were made to minimise disruption following the unexpected diversion.

The airline noted that the affected crew member received medical assistance immediately after the aircraft landed in Muscat and was feeling better. IndiGo also maintained that the safety of passengers, crew and the aircraft remained its primary priority while arrangements were being made for the onward journey.

Passengers waiting at Muscat were provided refreshments by the airline, along with regular updates regarding the replacement aircraft and travel arrangements. IndiGo also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the diversion and indicated that efforts were being made to minimise delays for those affected.

The diversion was prompted by the pilot's medical requirement rather than a reported aircraft-related emergency. The flight's safe landing in Muscat allowed the pilot to receive medical attention while the airline worked on alternative arrangements for the passengers.

The incident adds to the operational challenges airlines can face when a crew member requires medical attention during a flight. In this case, IndiGo's deployment of another aircraft and crew is expected to allow passengers to complete their journey to Bengaluru once the relief flight arrives in Muscat.
