Indian Flydubai Pilot Identified After Dubai-Tel Aviv Flight Incident

Smit Machchhar was identified following the cockpit confrontation.

Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian aviator with flydubai, has been identified as the pilot who allegedly intervened during an in-flight confrontation with his co-pilot on a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight. Sources said Machchhar fought off the co-pilot after an alleged attempt to interfere with the aircraft's systems, helping prevent a potentially serious incident involving as many as 180 passengers.

The confrontation took place inside the cockpit during the flight and reportedly involved a physical struggle between the two pilots. Machchhar was allegedly stabbed during the clash and sustained injuries. The incident briefly raised concerns about a possible hijacking, although that possibility was subsequently ruled out, according to the information available.

Following the confrontation, other pilots reportedly took control of the cockpit and helped ensure the aircraft could land safely. The flight was diverted to a location in Saudi Arabia, where the situation was brought under control. The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and the actions of the co-pilot are subject to investigation.
