India Welcomes 19 International Universities for Academic Collaborations

19 foreign universities to open campuses in India, offering global education opportunities.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Monday that around 19 international universities are set to establish campuses in India during the current academic year. The announcement was made at the Study in India Edu-Diplomatic Conclave 2026 in New Delhi. Pradhan emphasized that these partnerships between Indian and foreign institutions will focus on emerging sectors, aiming to enhance research and education standards nationwide.

The minister highlighted that collaborations are planned in key areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, essential minerals, agriculture, and sustainable management. These partnerships are expected to bring advanced curriculum frameworks, state-of-the-art facilities, and international expertise to Indian students. Officials stated that such initiatives are part of a broader strategy to elevate India’s educational ecosystem and foster global knowledge exchange.

Pradhan also extended a warm invitation to international students to pursue studies in India. He stressed the nation’s commitment to improving educational quality, enhancing India’s global ranking, and generating greater economic opportunities for young people. Notably, 65% of India’s population is under the age of 35, a demographic Pradhan described as a key driver for innovation, growth, and knowledge development.
